And then there was nothing.

Vulnerability post in 3… 2… 1…

I’m a planner. I’ve bought maybe 10 different types of planners over the past few years in hopes that one day I’d find something that would stick. Happy Planer, Erin Condrin, Simplified Planner, I’ve tried bullet journaling, Google calendars, Trello, Dayplanners, digital planners, freaking post-it notes, and I know I’m forgetting some. Anyway, it doesn’t matter how much you plan - sometimes the best plans fall flat.

Since I recommitted myself to blogging regularly, I’ve done pretty good planning out blog posts and making sure I have it scheduled ahead of time (thank you Okay Okapi - gods gift to copywriting)… along with coordinating Instagram post(s) and a Facebook post and an e-Newsletter. I’ve even got a section in my weekly Trello board with checklists of what to post each day of the week and on what platform.

But you know what? Sometimes you (me, I mean “me”) don’t feel like doing ALL.THE.THINGS and that’s ok!

BACKSTORY:
Saturday is when I try to nail down my weekly “social flood.” What is a social flood? Well, I’m glad you asked! I do a social flood on Tuesdays that consists of my weekly blog post, coordinating Instagram and Facebook posts, my e-newsletter, and as many IG stories as I can cram in. Sounds like a lot of work, but a little planning (see? I said that “P” word again) makes it easy and manageable.

As I type this, it’s Monday evening.

Saturday I spent all day cleaning the house and since yesterday was Mother’s Day, I didn’t want to sit down and finish up my blog post for the week while I was being pampered (seriously: b’fast, bloody marys, lunch, dinner, a homemade cake, a new patio umbrella… I felt like a queen!). Anyway, I went to bed last night thinking I was going to GET BIZZAY this morning and get it all done.

Well, this week I’m participating in a 5 day instagram story challenge called “Double Down Your DMs” (DDDM) with Alex Beadon. If you’re an entrepreneur who uses Instagram - you’ve probably heard of Alex. She’s like, the Instagram QUEEN! And this DDDM challenge is intense! You have stuff you have to do everyday in your Instagram stories to boost community engagement and I’ve heard it works from people who have participated in DDDM previously. Y’all, today is only day 1 and I’ve already gotten 25+ new followers! Just from today! Want more info? Go here to check out the challenge AND you should also head on over to my Instagram and check out my stories every day. Today was all about re-introducing ourselves to our following. NAILED IT!

So, after working on DDDM for an hour-or-so this morning, I finally got to work on the stuff I needed to do for my clients today BEFORE I started in on my blog for this week. But, quarantine… and the kids are home and they wanted to go to Cookout for Cheerwine floats (seriously, if you have to ask, Cheerwine is the nectar of the gods. Mix it with ice cream, and it’s like INSTANT alignment of planets. The angels will sing, birds and fluffy chipmunks will come sit on your knee and all’s right with the world).

Then I look up and it’s 4:30pm. Shoot. Now I’ve got to get up and start dinner.

SO….. here I sit in my happy place (thank you to my wonderful family for my Mother’s Day umbrella) with my glass of wine and my dish towel to cry on (yes, today has been an emotional day. I’m a people pleaser. I get my feelings hurt. Easily. Frequently. Moving on.) and I’m enjoying the breeze.

I promise to do better next week. No, I promise to TRY to do better next week. Afterall - we’re all human.

Right?
